Almost a year ago my battery life tanked overnight. It's also taking longer and longer to connect to my network after a restart (20-45 min). This started 2 weeks after my 12 month warranty was up.

I've done a factory reset, turned off almost every useful feature, brought to a Samsung authorized repair shop, changed the battery and changed the sim card. I've done every diagnostic tesg that Samsung chat or the internet has suggested. I just spent over 1 hour on chat with Ken only to have him ignore what I told him has been done already and ignore my request to speak to someone else when I got frustrated by answering the same questions. It was so bad, I questioned whether he was actually a person at all.

The only Samsung store in my city has closed and the repair centre Samsung recommended had my phone for over a day and said nothing was wrong.
I tried to send an email and I keep getting sent to a page about clearing your cache.

I charge my phone to 80-90% in the morning, use Bluetooth for about 20min to listen to music on my way to and from work. My phone sits in my locker for 10 hours (minus my 30min lunch break where I check emails or use social media) and by the time I get home I'm usually at 20-30%! That's insane!

Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know the cost of the door to door repair service? Clicking the link just keeps taking me to the repair options page. I don't want to waste any more time trying to communicate with the 'people' who answer chat
 I'm at a loss.

At this point I'm going to have to replace my less than 2 year old phone because I just can't rely on it being able to connect to my network or even have the battery power to stay on if I need it. I've had Samsung phones since my 1st smart phone minus one Google. If this isn't fixed, I doubt I'll ever buy a samsung again. This phone is garbage.

It sounds like you have tried virtually everything to resolve the issues with your device.

I don't think that it's Samsung itself, but it certainly sounds like the specific device you have is a "lemon". I don't know if something happened to the device when the battery originally "tanked", but it is possible that something in the circuitry got damaged.. that my best guess.

I still have my 12 year old Skyrocket, with the original battery. It actually still does power on, but dies shortly after, but it is 12 years old. Obviously I don't use it lol.

Pretty much the best thing about Samsung IS it's hardware, and whether your device had issues from the beginning, or if something happened when the battery died, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't leave Samsung just because of this experience, although I understand why you might want to.

At this point I'm trying to decide if I should send for repairs or just get a new phone. Samsung won't even give me a straight answer about the cost to do so on a phone off warranty. I don't want to end up doing $500 in repairs on a 2 year old device.

If it would be me, I would just get a new phone. You can get unpleasant & expensive surprises for repairs, and although it's probably silly on my part, I'd rather not have a device opened & put back together by some repair place.. Yes it's silly I know.

But in spite of your experience with this specific phone, Samsung REALLY does make excellent hardware.

Good luck with whatever you decide

There is 1 thing I am not sure if it is the cause of battery drain. The locker. The locker usually built by metals and covered up 360 degrees. When signal is weak, phone will use more battery for mobile signal. That's why we turn on Flight mode on the plane and while we do hiking when there is no or weak signal.

Maybe try turn on flight mode before putting into your locker and see if your battery still draining?

I did try airplane and it didn't help. That's when I started to notice that it took for ever to connect to the network after turning airplane mode off.

There's always the possibility, likely remote, that when the battery "tanked", and if it didn't just discharge normally, it may have caused some electrical damage to various components.

That's really the only way, I could make a connection between the battery dying, and the issues you are experiencing with WiFi connectivity. It could however, just be coincidence?

Lots of people are "good" with phones, but no one is posting their phone numbers.

Looks sketchy, or desperate AF. 🙄

Reported.

You should understand, that while you might be genuinely trying to help, this is a public forum, and we have seen our fair share of scams, spam and other fraudulent sites being posted.

Posts which include personal contact information, are always going to be viewed as suspicious. That's for the protection of everyone.

You may well be a great person, but you are unknown, and could just as easily be the antithesis of "good".
