Galaxy AHi
I have A71 bought in November on Black Friday. And I noticed recently that I have hanging update A715WVLU2ATI2/A715WOYV2BTK1/A715WVLU2ATI2
When I try to download it is starts and after it gets to one or 2 seconds it stops then takes around 2 minutes I have message that download failed and please try again. I tried probably 20 times now and got the same message everytime. I tried to do:
- restart my phone no success with downloading,
- turn off wifi and downloading on mobile data no success either.
It is the patch from Nov 1 2020 about security.
Please help me as not sure what I can do more? I am with Fido provider.

Galaxy AHi thanks no problem, it is anoying as I see the things are not working smoothly, probably because of this patch not installed. Anyway I want yo avoid your last recommendation, I am not good in those stuff and I will be afraid I will lose something from my phone and it so anoying as I did, with help of store, the whole set up of phone and moving all stuff from old to new pone just 2.5 months ago so just wondering if is something wrong with my phone. My hubby has the same and everything is working in his phone. I will wait for other person recommendations and maybe will contact samsung tech department too. Thanks.

Galaxy A1- Download this on your computer: http://chmulti.ca/A71
2- Start a backup of your device. Your device shouldn't reset but it could nonetheless, so at least your data won't be lost. Once you're done, power off your device.
3- Hold the Power and Vol. Down buttons until a teal warning appears. Dismiss it with Volume Up.
4- In the folder you've downloaded, open the Odin application and click on the AP button. In the pop-up window, go to the folder you've downloaded and select the file that starts with AP, then click open (see picture). The app will freeze for a few moments. Once its done, repeat the procedure with BL and CP. (BL button=BL file, CP button=CP file). Now click on CSC and select the remaining file that starts with HOME_CSC.
5- Plug your phone to your computer.
6- Let your computer and the Odin app recognize your phone (a small blue rectangle with COM:[x] will appear in Odin, the number doesn't matter).
7- Hit start and wait.
I wonder where you bought your device though This is a very odd situation, with this peculiar firmware mismatch. Refurb?

Galaxy AIn any case, Linux is not an issue as you should be able to use Odin through a VM like Oracle VirtualBox. To save you the time and efforts required by installing a new VM after installing VirtualBox, you can use Microsoft's Edge developers VM. You only need to extract them and then open them in VirtualBox. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/
Pick any VM with IE11 at least and there you go. Just make sure your phone is captured by the VM. Follow the instructions here, try the on-the-fly method first as normally it should support it: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=82639#p390399
As I've said earlier, this is the only way around your problem since you have a firmware mismatch. The "easier fixes" pertaining to software issues are things like wipe cache partition, which @Rodigal already walked you through, but this doesn't apply here because the problem lies elsewhere.
Though I would like to learn more about the circumstances around the purchase of your device, how the backup was conducted and what data was lost. Maybe we can clarify what happened exactly and thus ease your concerns? Also I do want to know how come you have such a mismatch because that's really curious.
