Can a user select their own sound notification (music file) for a specific app other than the selection provided?

Yes you can. I use Zedge for custom notifications.

I also use Zedge for notifications. I can also find on this app ringtones from other smartphone manufacturers such as LG, Apple iPhone, Motorola and more.

Hi, please try the below steps and get back to us with the results.

1. Head into the My Files app

2. Tap on Audio

3. Select Music > long-press the music file to select then either tap on Move or Copy

4. Head back to the My File main page and select Internal storage

5. Select Notifications

6. Tap on Copy here to copy your music file into your Notifications folder

7. Now you will be able to set the Voice Recording as the Notification tone. Head into your Settings → Sounds and vibration

8. Tap on Notification sounds

9. Select your Music file then tap on the back button to apply changes

10. The selected Audio file has now been successfully set as your Notification Sound.

If you cannot hear your Notification sounds, ensure you have set your Sound Mode set to Sound. You can check by heading into your Settings > Sounds and Vibrations > Sound Mode > Sound.

Thanks Georgina, it is always better to use native capabilities.

Here is what I usually do. Have a mp3 music downloaded on your phone. Copy or move the mp3 file to Ringtone Folder in My Files app. Then the song appears under notification sounds.
