My phone died on me.

I don't know how though. It happened today after 4PM since that's when I last received a text message via CMC (and at the time it was on my desk at home). You might think it's water damage and that a day in some ricey company will help. Nope, because as the next image clearly (well, as clearly as possible without a pro macro lens anyway) illustrate, the water damage indicator is NOT activated.

Already had issues with the S-Pen making it almost unusable. If that had happened a month later, I dunno, I would have admitted defeat and just buy a Note20. Now it feels like an untimely death. I'll be in touch with Samsung and Rogers pertaining to Quebec's legal warranty and try to claim it.* In the meantime, does anyone here have any idea how I could possibly retrieve some data from my phone or am I being delusional? Probably the latter huh?


* Quebec's law dictates that any good sold in/to the province must be functional and free of any hidden issue for "a reasonable duration", which varies by the nature of the good and its price. One could safely assume that any product sold on a contract should be usable for the duration of the contract. As phones as inexpensive as the A10e are sold for 200$ on a 24 month contract, I think it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a 6x more expensive device to last just as much 🙃

Maybe let it charge for a few hours and then try powering it on by pressing the buttons to go into recovery mode? I don't know what else to say except maybe going to Samsung and have them take a look at it.

CHMultimedia,  for you it's  a horror but for us if you buy the Note 20x as i read somewhere  it will be a treasure of informations  because we know you'll tell us the TRUTH about this new device.

 

Did you than in other country they give for few weeks  the new device to All of the Superusers who want it to test it (you need to live in that country) , you're still the best one that provide  solutions  here, i hope Samsung can consider it and help you to replace your device without the use of Quebec's Law.

I guess so. Yeah, if that were to happen, I'd be able to assist users with their issues on the S20/N20 series, plus I'd be able to help users with Android R/S (OneUI 3 and 4). If I'm stuck on OneUI 2.x, I wouldn't be able to fully assist others.

but in all seriousness though, I saw that you mentioned above that the phone still charges but it is irresponsive. Maybe it's the Power button that's messed up? I don't remember which note it was, but I remember seeing a teardown from jerryrigeverything that one of the notes had the volume and power buttons easily removed. Maybe something got stuck in there?

Just hoping that it isn't the motherboard that died. Cause if that's the case, there's not much you can do unfortunately.

Best bet would be to contact Samsung or see if any of their service centers are opened.
