Just to let anyone know if you like your Note 7 and really can't fing anything else comparable and do not want to exchange then you don't have to, the choice is all yours.

I've contacted Samsung to tell them I have no plans on returning or exchanging this phone. I've already received the replacement model and that was enough of a headache, only to have to do it again..? I dont think so. The agent on the phone basically tells you its highly recommended and although it is mandatory there really isn't any repercussions. They cannot force you to hand your phones in. Of course, if something were to happen, your on your own.

I also asked them if they will be remotely shutting down the phones after (x) amount of weeks or months and the agent said no, and that she has not heard of anything like that.

So basically the owness is on you if you would like to exchange for either a refund or a new phone. Personally, for me, I'm going to keep the phone and just be a little more cautious then normal.

Just an FYI for all you Note 7 ppl.

I asked and my carrier, Rogers, has had no idea. Samsung is being pretty vague.

I really dont think I am going on vacay or flying anywhere until my next upgrade. if I do end up then I will figure it out at that time. I doubt updates will be cancelled, they know a small portion of people will be keeping these phones plus you can always update through rooting if need be since trading in this phone will probably be black listed in the future. To answer your other question about leaving your phone at home, I never do. If people choose to, and especially, leave them charging while they aren't in the area your taking a risk I'd say.

I really thing the general consensus is people more freaked out if something were to happen rather than just forgetting about it and being a little more careful and conscious about carging it unattended or while under heavy use.

Samsung phones, in my past experience, were phones that for the most part always got pretty hot while charging especially while using them. Are you telling me for one second those batteries never had the potential to blow up either? That would be very naive. It's unfortunate it happened with the Note 7 so soon but it did and now everyone is becoming a bunch of pussies.

Just be careful whatever you do, Your not safe doing anything now a days.
