Okay,

First, some help given:

For everyone with a Note 8 who are used to having a dark theme and feel *ahem* violated when you swipe down, please reset your grid to 5x3, it suppresses the some of the colored items on the tile and returns the tile lineup back to le normale.

The theme I'm currently using is Minu's "Black" it just works.

Icon set is black V2, once again from Minu.

Go to the official theme store, they're both free.

This is what my setup looks like, please keep in mind, I've blurred out my wifi network and location in the photos for privacy.

And the nice clean home section:

I hope this helps some of you restore faith back in your Note 8s.  I'm sorry Samsung but this last update was a bit jarring to those who are used to a certain understated appeal.

Okay, here is one problem I can't fix, Samsung Internet (the app) crashes.  They are pretty, pretty bad.  For the life of me, I don't know why, but ever since the Pie date, the browser goes into "White Screen of DEATH" mode.  The worst part is, I can't screenshot it, I can get out, and worst still, it is persistent across multiple websites, like news.google.com to other websitea.  Check out my crunchy crash report:

Most frustrating no?

It gets worse, if using the same browser in Secret Folder, getting back to home screen has a delay of 5 seconds.

Any ideas on this?

Cheers!

Is this a clean install or did you flash pie over Oreo. Did you do a factory reset after the major revision install? Doing a dirty install (installing over an old version) tends to cause odd issues. I'm preparing for a clean install. My battery is taking a heavy hit after the dirty install. But first going to play around with it (finding themes and icons that will work with pie).

I guess I did the dirty install, as it the system simply popped up a message if I wanted to install the new update. I haven't done a factory reset yet, since this is the first issue I've ever faced with this phone, I've been trying to find a good set of instructions (usually I find a variance between steps or some are intentionally vague doe some reason). Would I lose all the passwords and text messages if I do a factory reset? Battery hit on mine is thankfully not as evident right now, but monitoring. For clean install, will I need to go through the "Odin" route I read about here and there on forums?

First off - No you don't need to use Odin to "clean" install 99.99% of the time.
To Factory Reset - Power Off your device - Press & Hold Power + Bixby +Volume UP - When you feel the phone vibrate - Release all three buttons - Wait until you see the Recovery Screen (you may see a blue screen for a few seconds - This is normal) On the Recovery screen - Use the volume button to scroll down to Factory Reset (you'll see a Red Warning (normal again) Select Factory Reset with the Power button - It'll take a couple of seconds & then Reboot into the Samsung Welcome screen.

BEFORE you Factory Reset - Backup your device with Smart Switch (mobile to your external sd card) or computer using the USB cable to the Desktop app) Move everything you want or need to the external sd card or computer.
At the Welcome screen you'll need to enter your Google & Samsung account information etc - EXACTLY the same as when you first received the device 🐧

As Shaggyskunk1 said, a factory reset should fix most post update issues. But do a necessary backup first prior to the factory reset as that will wipe out all data and start fresh.

Thanks for the help folks, I'm making a screenshot and sending these instructions to my PC, I'm going to give it a shot and update on this thread. I hope others with Note 8s are reading this, we need less rants and more solutions. Cheers!

Update, factory reset was successful, it appears the issues have abated thus far. Thank you Shaggy and Vic, you have been a big help.
