Hey, I've noticed a lot of comments about Lag and Battery life being a problem after device updates. One thing I always do and recommend is to Wipe Cache Partition using the Android Recovery Mode. It's a pretty simple step and usually fixes a lot of the problems after an update. What it does is clear out old and outdated data from the previous OS version which can often run in the background causing the lag and Battery issues. Don't worry about personal data being removed as it won't touch any of that. Steps are pretty simple but vary depending on your device but simply open up Google and search "(Your device) Wipe Cache Partition", tmobile is usually the first one to pop up, they have a nice clear step list on how to do it.

I'm not saying its a guaranteed fix but hopefully it helps at least a few users! 😊

Hey Jonathan, this is the android recovery boot option, wiping the cache will not only make your battery work better, but as mumbles1 also stated it will speed up your phone, it will clean all the temp files off your phone, and overall it is good to do this every few months.
This is the same screen I do a factory reset from, instead of the setting options.

Yeah it really is an awesome option, back when I updated my Note 3 to Kit Kat it was lagging so hard and the battery was draining so fast and then after a quick search I found this option and then I loved my Note 3 again😂

well i would have to get an update first to complain about, but I don't think we really have to worry about that anytime soon, it's been what feels like forever sense the last one i have gotten. i maybe an old man before i get the next one, maybe even before i get a security patch update that's a few months behind the rest of the world. you know it's sad when you get excited about a security patch update LOL. #samsunglife

Lol yeah it's been awhile, I haven't gotten anything either but a few users have been mentioning that they've received updates of some sort causing lag or battery issues so I figured I'd post this. Hopefully we get a few much needed updates including the security one soon.

If my phone is running great now... I'm usually hesitant to do any update. That is unless it's critical (like the security updates)... 😅

And if/ when we get Oreo, I plan on doing a factory reset and start fresh.
