Hello. I've noticed that many of you set your phone to factory reset BEFORE latest software update?? I'm wondering if this is totally necessary?? I've now done this 3 times since purchase (Dec '19) and it's really hard for me to re-establish my phone (& with all personalizations, too). Can I just clear all my apps cache instead??

Also, is THIS my last supported update for my model (Note 10+)??

The only times that I Factory Reset, is AFTER an Android version update, UNLESS I've been Flashing the US Betas, in which case I Factory Reset BEFORE Flashing the US Betas & then AGAIN After I've manually Flashed BACK to the Canadian Firmware. (nice run-on sentence lol).

The only other time might be if my phone was behaving oddly.

Clearing cache really doesn't do all that much, basically just clears any "jun*k" that may be floating around in the system.

If you clear Cache, it will automatically rebuild right after clearing it, which is a good thing, because it actually speeds up your phone. 

A Factory Reset isn't USUALLY required, but I've never had any problems using this approach.

There's a script built-in to the updates, that's supposed to clear the cache, but sometimes it needs a little help.

I may do it later, then, as I mentioned, it's very time-consuming & 'labour-intensive' for me! (my OCD brain makes me do daily rituals on my phone & tablet 🙄)

Really depends on the reason for performing a Factory Reset.

Personally, I don't think that a Factory Reset is just a "placebo" at all, & sometimes it's absolutely necessary.
