I cant believe I am posting about this, but ever since I updated my phone to Pie, I have had nothing but problems on my Galaxy S9+

- First off, edge lighting does NOT work for Android Messages, I tested this multiple times, as soon as I switch back to Samsung Messages, edge lighting starts working again.
This was not an issue on Oreo

- Second, notifications do not appear on my Galaxy Watch when I am also using Android Messages. Once again, this was not an issue on Oreo.

- Third issue is my alarm. Whenever my alarm goes off in the morning, it does not play my "alarm tone" instead I just hear a really weird ticking noise..not sure if anyone else is experiencing this.
I have noticed all these issues AFTER I upgraded to Pie.

When I switch to Samsung Messages, my edge lighting works, my notifications appear on my watch, but the main reason I enjoy using Android Messages is because they offer messages for web.
I am a busy guy, I am always in the office working away, and its nice to reply to my SMS messages via my PC, if Samsung could implement something similar, that would be really cool, but not holding my breath.

You can try to use Samsung Flow if you have a Win10 PC. I use it all the time and it's pretty useful. You can reply from your PC to SMS and other apps that support typing a reply from the notification panem.

That's just a workaround until the issue gets fixed and/or Samsung implements that feature in S Messages

Ya Samsung Flow is a temp fix, but there are a few things I dont like about it.
Every time I lock my PC, I need to "re-pair" it with my phone, also it doesn't keep conversation history on messages and whenever I reply to an SMS, it still shows unread on my phone...
no winning for me :(

Hey @SnowCat19,

I appreciate the honest feedback—I know there are quite a few things that need to be smoothed out regarding the Pie update.

Rest assured we're looking into all these issues and hope to implement fixes very soon 😊 I see that there's a lot of community feedback on Edge lighting, so I'll make sure more emphasis is put on that.

Cheers,
Sabrina

Thank you Sabrina, I will do some more troubleshooting to see if I can find the root cause.
Also there are a few Samsung good lock apps that also are not currently supported with Pie, one of my favorite ones....Task Changed :(

@SnowCat19 it works fine for me. Did you make sure the notifications are selected for android messages in the edge lighting settings?c83a6236-4fd0-410a-b94d-b9cd1b86907e.jpg

Mike is correct. You need to make sure to add it in there then it'll work

that is super odd...
Ya I went to manage notifications and I disables Samsung messaged and only had android messages, there was no edge lighting.
then i turned them both on, still nothing, then I changed my default messenger to Samsung messages and edge lighting started to work again....
