I'm unable to connect to my laptop on my network via the My Files app (like I've done for years)

My Files says it needs an update, but when I try to update it just says "cannot connect to server".

Doesn't matter whether I'm on WiFi or Mobile data, My Files always says "can't connect to the server"

Also, I can't find any Samsung app called "My Files" in the Samsung store to do a manual update from the store.

Is there a fix for this?

1. My Files says I need an update. So I click "Update"

2. It says it's "opening the Galaxy Store"

3. It always fails (100% reproducible), saying that it can't connect to the server

4. However, I can open the Galaxy Store directly from the Galaxy Store app with no problem... so I don't know why it's saying "can't connect to server"

I just fixed my issue after searching for over a month.

I went into settings>apps>network storage manager>app details in store>click update.

I stumbled on it by chance 🤷

Manny have issues with updating My Files or trying to get the addition to it that allows for network connectivity.

Maybe try going to apkmirror.com, search for My Files, then download the latest version and install that.

thanks so much for the reply and suggestion! however, I don't feel comfortable using any app stores outside of Google Play and the Samsung Store

I hope Samsung plans to address this!

I've had a whole bunch of issues appear recently in fact. Samsung Email constantly says "Syncing emails..." forever and never goes away.

My phone has charging issues... charhing cables the work on my friend's Z Flip 5 don't work on my S23+, and the cables that do work only allow regular-speed charging, whereas the Z Flip gets Superfast Charging (same charger, same cable)

Samsung Internet has started freezing!

It all started happening just from a few weeks ago

I understand that some people may be reluctant to use a source other than the Play Store or Galaxy Store, but apk mirror, is 100% safe!

You could try going to Settings > Apps Search "My Files" and Click on it & then Top Right click on the 3 Dot Menu Top & Click on "Uninstall Updates" & Reboot.

See if you can update My Files from the Play Store, or just use apk mirror.

apk mirror doesn't host any pirated / cracked paid apps, because it's a legitimate source for apks, unlike many others.

apk mirror is used by Developers, as it is a safe & reliable source.

Hi mikle, that's strange! as you have mentioned your'e facing many issues with your device, please try Booting into Recovery Wiping Cache partition. If you wipe your cache partition, it removes any temporary files that may be causing some problems or issues with your device, all of your personal files and/or settings will not be affected when you wipe cache partition.

1. Hold the Power button and Volume Down to open the power options where choose the Power off.

2. When the screen goes dark press the Volume Up and Power keys together.

3. Let go of all held buttons when you see the Recovery mode on the screen.

4. Then you should select Wipe cache partition. Use Volume Up to navigate and the Power button to accept it.

5. Choose Yes and press the Power key to confirm that operation.

6. After that select Reboot system now with the Power key."

In case the issue still occurs, kindly report the problems with a log file. To share a log file, click on the Samsung Members Application (Open Samsung Members Application > Support> Tap on error report > Type your query > Send).

Thank you.

Not a good fix. @DustOff shared the appropriate fix for this issue on 05-16 in this thread.

Hi Helenna... how do we get Samsung themselves to address this?

in my opinion: Samsung expecting its users to download apk's from 3rd party apk stores just to update a Samsung made app that's included with every Samsung phone is not an acceptable way for any reputable company to operate

this issue is not a simple matter of rebooting or wiping cache partitions... I mean, the "Samsung My Files" app isn't even listed on Samsung's own app store... and the version on Google Play is 2 years old

this inability to update is breaking the network storage feature of My Files... does this update even exist?
