I am so frustrated with the edge screen as it is so ridiculously prone to cracking!! I currently have 4 phones from the S8 to S10 with cracked screens and 2 of them are no longer functional. It wouldn't be so painful if the screens weren't also over $300 to replace! Within my family of 4 we have 11 products from TV, phones, tablets, watches, and ear buds.

My most recent S10 just developed a Crack along the edge and I didn't even hit/drop it hard enough to check for damage. I just noticed it this morning. Anyone else frustrated with this? I'm not an apple fan but I'm honestly debating switching brands as I don't even use the edge features. Samsung needs to either improve the lifespan of their screens and products or get rid of the edge to start.

That's because I keep them for years and don't fix the screens. The one that only shows half the screen working was dropped with a case at 2 days old by my husband. The S8 I had for over 2 years. Once there is a small cracked the integrity is gone and it spreads like a windshield.

Every single first Crack was on an edge. The first on my S8 fell off the arm of my chair onto gravel.

It would be nice to have the option of no edge like I had in the 6. And when spending around 1000$ for a phone they should last more than 2 years.

Two word.... Planned Obsolescence...

Agree. My last phones were S8, S8+, Note8, Note9, Note10+ and S21 Ultra. I really liked curved screens at the beginning just to realize they are more of a nuisance than anything else. Im glad they are going back to flatter screens. That said, im liking the very subtle curves almost flat screen on the S21 Ultra.

Thanks I was starting to think I was incredibly clumsy 😅.

I'm also glad to hear that! I guess I'll just deal with a cracked screen for the next 2 years or so until I can justify buying a new phone. 🙃

I agree the curved screens are just way too easy to crack. In a perfect world no one would drop their phone, but in the real world you are going to drop your phone. The best screen protector for curved screen phones are the ones that are glass and use a UV cured glue. They are a pain to install and quite expensive, but after using them, no more cracked screens (the glue adds some thickness and a cushion  so you will crack the protector before the phone  ) I think samsung realizes the problems with curved screens so that's why only the s21 ultra has a curved screen (that one is for the phone geeks)

Well that is very helpful info to know about the glass/uv cure glue as I'm not ready to replace this phone. Thanks!

And ya by the time I get frustrated enough to complain enough people have brought it to their attention lol.

Never cracked any of the edge phones we have and we abuse our phones. I've already replaced my brother's TGP twice. The actual screen is still in great shape with no cracks/scratches. Can't say the same about the TGP though. LOL

But I invest in a sturdy case and TGP full adhesive protector. Mine has a small nick/scratch but that was from an accidental drop onto an exposed motherboard that had a nice sharp edge that hit the TGP. Haven't bothered replacing the TGP it's a minor and barely noticable scratch. Some other impacts were bad enough to even knock the S Pen out of its housing and fly off. I was more afraid of the S Pen breaking than the phone.

I've dropped my phone several times now and even use my Note 10+ just to hit the light switch several times too. Yeah don't ask why I do that I just do.

ya I just don't want a ridiculously large case. Sounds like that's one of the only real solutions although I am going to try the glass screen protector. I've never had issues until the edge came out. 🤷‍♀️

Hi i do not understand either why it is necessary to create a phone with edge screens , first of all the edge has reflections ,2ndly not all like it , 3rdly it looks like the phone has been cut off , 4th comment it is likely to break .

Why not create 2 phones one with an edge who like , the other without .

I would advice samsung first to also create phones that are more dorable .

Also they once looked more dorable ,

Thicker like that everyone likes

Thanks ..maybe they will think of it :)

I agree with you 100% I have using Samsung Galaxy since the time of siii.

The moment they started rolling out the edge phone screens, I started to get the breakage issues.

I must have had 8 screens repaired so far. It always starts with a slight crack on the side, it's barely noticeable. But after a little while the crack affects the entire screen, like having a white line through the entire screen. I didn't want to get my S21 note + repaired a second for the edge crack.

So I got my old Galaxy S20, Screen replaced, and now it cracked again after a couple of months.

I always used screen protectors and got casings.  I did some research, and its a matter of physics, flat screens can distribute stress force much easier then bend screens.

I still love Samsung, but I will only go with the flat screen versions from now on.

Ps. I am anti Iphone,  I have 4 iphone users in my family. And I always got upset, when their screens cracked. Which happened more often. But now I caught up with them.
