Hi,
Do you know if we ever gonna have LED notifications on the screen, without being necessary to tap on it to see if we have any?
Same as we used to have on previous versions of Samsung.
My device is S10+.
It's so useful. Thank you

Unfortunately, the LED notification light was removed from Samsung phones since the S10 series. It's a hardware change so it cannot be fixed. There are apps that circumvent this annoyance, repurposing the punch hole by flashing light on its outside border. @Shaggyskunk1 might help you as I still have my trustworthy Note9, using an application to make the LED even more useful

@mytech - I'm using Holey Light by Chainfire - I've tried the others but I prefer this one - Works perfectly on my S10+
My 2 cents fwiw.

Thanks @Shaggyskunk1 I think you told me this before and I got it on her device, I'm still hanging onto my note 9 and was hoping @CHMultimedia would gosh darn share his secret app 🙄🤣👍
Side Q, I got some of those android boxes kicking around, should I root with chainfire or magisk? I've done both but curious what you all think 🤷

@KK41,

Yes, as @CHMultimedia mentioned the LED notification light has been removed from Samsung phones.

I use aodNotify. It lets you choose different styles and I have mine set to be a small dot at the top of the display just like the old notification LED. Haven't had any problems with it.

I used the one called 'LED me know'. Here is the problem (which, I suspect is shared by all these solutions) - it requires you enable the always on display all the time. As others have mentioned, the 'notification light' is a circle painted on the AOD canvas at the punch hole location.

To see it lying on your desk at shallow angle - aod must be at max brightness. I had the 'text strip along the long edge' style - most minimalist - and my battery use has tripled. Not exaggerating. Disabled aod entirely - battery use back to usual. So it's a trade off.

Wish samsung at least implemented an out of the box solution that is battery efficient and aod-independent - camera can flash the punch hole on its own... why not notifications?
I mean - they have means for the solution... it's been almost a year since note10 release... I don't understand how did noone over there has thought of this... especially with (inefficient) third party solutions being in demand... frigging frustrating man...
Couldn't care less about headphone jacks... but would love to not have to neurotically tap screen every half hour or risk missing calls/etc.

As of now, seems like a trade off situation - notifications or battery life, significant chunk in my case.

Other than battery drain, LED me know works great, no root required.
