When did Samsung remove the ability to select different sounds for different notifications? All my emails/sms messages...everything uses the same notifications sound. I do not know if I have an incoming email or an incoming SMS. Constantly have to look. Used to have a different sound for each app.

Go into settings-apps-notifcations-sounds. Try that.

You are still able to set different sounds for different types of messages or even different sounds from different people

Go to settings, notifications, advanced settings, manage notification categories for for each app and make sure this is enabled

Go to app you want notifications from and for example google messages mine is a R in a blue circle top right corner above messages, messages settings, notifications, behavior sounds and more, notification categories and set individual sounds here for different people

Agree. This solution doesn't work and the default sound for all is atrocious.

Go to Settings->Apps. Tap on app. On the app info page, tap on Notifications. On the app notifications page tap on Notifications categories. On the notification categories page tap on Message notifications. This will now bring you to a screen that has an option to set the notification sound and to enable it disable vibrations.

These instructions are for a specific app. For Google messages it's different - you get to the Notification categories screen and you tap on Incoming messages to take you to the page where you can change the should. For Whatsapp you tap on Messages notification or Group notifications or some of the other options that can also be rolled on or off.

So it can be a little different depending on the app.

It shouldn't be that difficult when you pay so much for a premium device.
