Latest update completely broke Bluetooth connection to my car, very occasionally auto connects but always connects "calls" but never audio, I have to manually toggle it on and off every time to make it work, this was not an issue with the previous version. Quite disappointed with having to deal with this.

Did you close all open apps before updating?

This shouldn't matter? None of the apps I have are the issue here

Hi Ninjask45,

It is unusual to hear that you have been experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues following the recent update.

Here are a few steps that might help restore proper Bluetooth functionality:

  • Re-Pair the Device:

    • On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings.

    • Find your car’s name and tap “Forget” or “Unpair.”

    • Restart both your phone and car system, then re-pair them.

  • Check Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Ensure both “Calls” and “Audio” are enabled in the Bluetooth settings for your car.

    • Sometimes only the “Calls” profile gets activated, which causes the issue you described.

  • Clear Bluetooth Cache (Android only):

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Bluetooth > Storage.

    • Tap “Clear Cache” and “Clear Data,” then restart your phone.

  • Update Car Firmware (if available):

    • Some car infotainment systems offer firmware updates that improve compatibility with newer phone versions.

  • Try Safe Mode (Android):

    • Boot your phone into Safe Mode to check if a third-party app is interfering with Bluetooth. Please follow the below steps to keep the device in safe mode.

    • Power off your phone completely.

    • Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears.

    • Immediately release the Power button and press and hold the Volume Down button.

    • Keep holding until the device boots up.

    • You’ll see “Safe mode” in the bottom corner once it loads.

    •

None of this options worked, no change in behavior.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried the first two suggestions. When I went to try the third (clear bluetooth cache), I don't have "show system apps" in my apps settings. I do have an android.

Perhaps you need to wait for update on car system, like Android Auto. One UI 8 is a new version. May be incompatible to your car system.

My car is from 2013, well before android auto, it has basic Bluetooth connection for audio playback and calling. OneUI8 shouldnt be dropping basic compatibility like that with an update.

I can't stand when my phone is paired to my car it takes over everything. It's annoying.
