Hello All,

Since the latest update of One UI 5.1 on Dec 1st here in Canada, my finger print sensor has stopped working. I have 3 finger prints registered and not one is recognized. I have restarted my phone several times, run device care, cleared cache, and run diagnostics. I am getting the orange warning on the finger print test as it fails. The system recommends that I use some hand moisturizer to solve the problem.

Nothing has worked.

Anyone else experiencing this?

You ran the Diagnostics for the Finger Print sensor?

You can try this:

  • Go to Settings > Apps TOGGLE ON "Show System Apps" (middle right) Search for "Biometrics", Click on it & Scroll down to Storage & Clear BOTH Cache & Data for the app & Reboot.

See if you can Register your Finger Prints again?

Have to think about this option. If I re-register new prints, then all of my biometric enabled apps will need to run the reset process again with two factor authentication etc...

If you're finger print authentication isn't working now, it's kind of academic.. it's not working now. Not sure what there is to think about?

Uising passcodes is bearable, but when I changed the order of my prints about a year or so ago, I was shocked how far reaching the consequences were. It even affected my wife's access to shared apps like our banking and insurance. It was a nightmare resetting all of the user accounts.

It is inconvenient right now, but manageable. Just disappointing.

My note 20 ultra fingerprint sensor was awful compared to the S23U
