S8+ Not Receiving Texts On Time

Hey all. I've recently invested in a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
At first I was very happy with the phone. But now after the initial setup and I have discovered one huge issue. I am receiving text messages from people very late. Some I am not receiving at all. I am hoping someone here has an explanation and hopefully a solution to my problem!

Another thing that is somewhat related: I bought a Telus S8+ but I am with Freedom Mobile. Somehow without having the phone unlocked my Freedom SIM card works in the phone but my friend's Bell SIM does not. I found this strange. Could the laggy texts have something to do with this?

I seen your post and I went to Google and the first thing I see in the Google now feed is this. so it's not just for you but everyone that uses an s8

Good to know. About a month ago I went form the S7 to S8+ and love it, so far I think I've gotten all my texts. But I'll have to pay more attention

There is a known issue. Someone posted it above. I was not receiving texts and I did a factory restart. I also called bell and they pinged the network. All is resolved or atleast nobody is telling me I'm not replying to their texts.

I never thought anything of it. Chalked it up to a network issue. Although it rarely happens, there have been a few times I didn't receive a text from my husband and vise versa. But screen shots have shown otherwise. I agree, good to know. Maybe it isn't a network issue.
I have the S8+ and love it as well. The odd missing message isn't a big deal to me.

I just found out my brother is experiencing the same problem as well on his S8+ on Freedom

Apparently if you go into the battery settings and go to the battery optimization section there is a list of all the apps being optimized. Turning optimization off for the message app may be a fix. I've turned it off and am waiting to see if anything changes

The text messages are either delayed or they don’t arrive at all.

It’s unclear at this point in time what’s the cause of this issue. There hasn’t been any clarity on the matter from Samsung so it’s anybody’s guess right now. Users are understandably irked so hopefully, Samsung will be out with a fix soon.
