I've bounced back and forth between saving my calendar and contacts to Google or Phone (with backup to Samsung Cloud).

Ultimately, my preference is the "My calendar" on the phone mostly because it's my data and information. I also like the option to be able to open and edit a contact from contact birthday event in calendar, something you cannot do if they are synced to Google.

My ask of the community is for the ability to select a different colour for Contacts Birthday than My Calendar. Right now when you select a color for MyCalendar, that same becomes the default for Contacts Birthday.

Thanks f9r your consideration!

Yes, currently.

If you Google, "Is Samsung Cloud Service Being Discontinued", you'll see that there are numerous links, but it's not altogether clear when Samsung Cloud may be discontinued entirely.

I guess the point is that it might not be the best idea to rely on Samsung Cloud for syncing what is important to you 😉

I always sync my Contacts, Calendar etc with my Google account, and there's very good reason to do so.

If for whatever reason you have to Factory Reset, lose your device, or have a hardware failure. What you have saved to your device may well be lost.

Smart Switch is pretty good but it does not backup any data, you would need Root in order to do that. Root isn't an option for our devices.

Thanks RDR, I completely agree with you but if I back up my contacts and calendar to Samsumg Cloud, are they not still recoverable? The only downside to this that I can see, might be if I were to move to an android phone not made by Samsung, but I like their phones, so I do not see that happening for me.

It appears that Samsung Cloud is on it's way out. More of it's services are being discontinued & replaced with One Drive.

I've always used my Google account to sync my Contacts, Calendar etc, and it's always worked flawlessly.

You could explore what can be synced with One Drive, I haven't bothered.

Google Backup is another option, but using my Google accounts is just extremely simple.

Thanks RDR, I was not aware of that and am now thinking I change to Google for back up. I am a Google One member. Shame really, I get the partnership with Microsoft, given the at times strained relationship between Google and Samsung but it would have nice for them to partner with Google as it would have made sense to me, Gallery and Photos as an example. Likely never going to happen, thanks again

Samsung & Google's relationship is a bit strange. Samsung is using Google's OS, and have "partnered" with Google on Google Messages.. business politics lol
