Samsung S20 5G. I can not get 5G service.

Can not get 5G service from providers, I have a 5G plan and it will not work, it doesn't even show up in mobile networks jut LTE/WCDMA/GSM. I have tried every thing spoke with a Samsung tech did factory reset on phone still nothing. I was finally told from cell providers the S20 series phones need a small firmware update that Samsung has told them they will not be doing or supporting anymore. This is *** as my S20 is a 5G phone and now they will not support this???

Sometime is a plan issue, working for a carrier, sometime doing some feature change inside your account might get your plan messed up. Go check a carrier store if you have the 5g access added in your plan, you might pay for the option but it's not added on your account properly, sometime the system bugs out and some feature are removed from your plan, not having the 5g option on your plan trigger the system to remove the access to 5g on your phone. If it's not working try doing a sim swap in your account, it might rearrange things since the sim is reconfigured by the network but check first if it's all good inside of your plan first. Sometime I've seen somebody changed something in their self serve app and it as removed voice mail, caller display. They did nothing wrong but was a system glitch. Hope it helps! :)

Despite what others are saying this is not the case. The plan is not the issue, nor the coverage either (although that's always possibilty).

I've just spent almost 2, 3 weeks working out this same problem on my s20+ 5G.

The issue is with Samsung and how the locked the ability to connect to a 5G network in Canada using an s20 model sold within Canada (actually sold anywhere in North America from what I'm told).

As frustrating as it all is, it's kinda of funny as well. Literally nobody has the answer to why or even how Samsung locked 5G (as well as the dual sim capabilities) behind the firmware.

After many, many attempts at this I did figure some things out. I've since been able to change the CSC (basically it's a carrier code used in cell phones that distinguishe each providers service for firmware purposes. I was able to unlock the ability to set the phone so it could connect to 5G (despite not once getting a 5G signal yet) as well as the ability to use an e-sim/dual sims.

I'll add screenshot below, that will show you the options you need to have under Mobile Networks. I'll also add a screenshot showing the new "Sim Manager" option now under settingz.

Not a problem. I'll need to get them to you sometime tomorrow morning, they're on my laptop at work. But basically what you'll need is to downloads Frija from : https://github.com/SlackingVeteran/frija (this is to grab the proper firmware - for my S20 plus 5g - sm-g896w I used sm-g986UI). You also want to make sure under CSC that you use XAA (U.S. Unlocked is what it means essentially). You'll also need to download Odin. I don't have that link on my, but again I can get that to you tomorrow if need be. you'll want to make sure that you have the Samsung Drivers installed on windows 10/11 machine.
Best not to start messing with it till I can get you the step by steps. But if literally takes about 5 minutes to do, once you've got everything you need.
