Edge Lighting notifications

1 or 2 weeks ago I posted a suggestion about being able to have Edge Lighting be used as nofitication, meaning not just turn on once like it does now, but being able to have it turn on at a determined interval when you get a notification and keeps coming on until you check the notification. Hopefully that feature will come to Edge Lighting+ one day.

Anyway, I did some digging around and searching and found an app called AOE (Always On Edge) in the Play Store, and the app does exactly what I mentioned above and more. Installing the free version, you will need to watch a video everytime you want to save your settings. So I decided to take one for the team and purchased the unlocked version for a whopping $0.99

So I will test the app for a few days and report back if this app is worth it or not.

I have been using it for a month or so and it does the job of notifying very well. You can set to remind you of messages at whatever amount of time you want and configure the reminder lighting.

You really didn't have to spend any money to try it as I just set the settings and then put the phone aside while they played their advertising but it is worth the $ .99 anyways. After you get it set up you don't have to watch advertising again unless you change some settings.

Always On Edge review
**You will need to disable Edge Lighting in your phone’s settings for this app to work**

I have been using the this app for 3 days now, so far I’m happy with this app. You can pretty much set an Edge Lighting color for any app on your phone that receives notifications.

I tested with the following apps: Samsung members, Samsung Email, Gmail app, Messages, WhatsApps (2 accounts) and KiK. I set different colors for each app and it has worked flawlessly, however I was unable to set a different color for my 2nd WhatsApp account (would be cool).

So when I received a notification, the Edge Lighting comes on for 8 secs and then turns off, I set the reminder to 30 secs, so the Edge Lighting comes on every 30 secs for 8 secs until I check the notification.

You can choose when you want Edge Lighting to turn on (many options to choose from) I chose: When a notification comes (when screen is off)
You can choose when you don’t it want it to turn on (a few options) I chose: Do not run if Do Not Disturb mode in Enabled
I enabled “Pocket Mode”, disables from running when phone is in your pocket or face down.

I’m very happy with this app as it does exactly what I wanted, which is to use Edge Lighting as a continuous notification reminder. I paid the $0.99 vs using the free version.

I haven’t noticed any battery drain using this app
