I recently purchased a NAS cloud storage device. Connecting it to the internet was no issue and it appeared as a network drive on my Mac.

However when I try to add it as a network storage in Samsung my files, it comes up in the search for SMB drives, allows to enter the information but then says to me that I need to enable SMBv2 and SMBv3 on the server.

How do I enable SMBv2 or v3 on the server?
How to I find the server that it speak of?

Help!

Thanks, but that doesn't solve my problem or answer my questions. I'm still lost.

I'm not sure, but I think that the issue might be the MAC?

I know that Android & MAC iOS don't play well together. Pretty much everything I've seen involves a Windows box.

I could be wrong, but.. 🤔

I can access the drive on my Mac. I just would like to do the same on my phone.

According to the screenshot, seems like ypur NAS is using SMB version1 connection. However, SMB v1 had been depreciated. Please check your NAS if SMB v2 or SMB v3 has enabled or not.

That's where I am lost. I don't know where to find the SMBv2 or v3 option for the NAS. The error message I get tells me to enable the SMBv2 or v3 on the server, but I have no idea what server they are referring to or how to find that server and SMBv2 or v3 options.

Are you using QNap or Synology NAS?

I am using Synology NAS and I can find the settings under File Service -> SMB -> Advanced Settings.

So, if you are trying to connect your NAS, try googling there the settings is located. If your destination is a PC, or Server, then you need to do some command line in PC or Server.20240101_083616_1000032900_1704123424.jpg
