Chat is RCS on Samsung Messages, but Switch to Google Messages, as Samsung's Moderators are advising people to do.

You can download Google Messages from the Play Store & then set it as your Default Messaging app.

Chat is also RCS on Google Messages.

Chat is really the consumer-friendly name for RCS. Unlike Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, Chat isn't another Android-based messaging app that you have to download. Think of Chat as a bundled set of features. It comes installed out-of-the-box in every messaging app on all Android phones.

If you have RCS enabled for Google Messages, then it will be turned off for Samsung Messages.

If the person who you are sending messages to, does not have RCS, the message will be sent as a regular SMS message, not RCS (Rich Communication Services).

Plus, you can only have one default messaging app.

Decide which one you want to use (Google's Messages is strongly recommended).

The blue samsung msgs aren't available with my samsung chat anymore, don't know why, I realize that when I apply my Google RCS chat as my default it applies, however when i try and enable samsung chat (blue text msgs) it doesn't give me that option, which i find odd b/c i had it not too long ago

It happens to me when I tried google messages. I too prefer Samsung messages. Just leave the RCS alone for 4 days then try turn of chat features after 4 days.

Didn't Samsung remove that feature a long time ago?

No, RCS Chat is still available on Samsung's Messages. You need to Toggle it On & Verify your number. Sometimes it can take a bit of time to get verified and active.
