Hello. I've noticed that many of you set your phone to factory reset BEFORE latest software update?? I'm wondering if this is totally necessary?? I've now done this 3 times since purchase (Dec '19) and it's really hard for me to re-establish my phone (& with all personalizations, too). Can I just clear all my apps cache instead??
😑
Also, is THIS my last supported update for my model (Note 10+)??
Thank you🌹

Hi GoldieR, After the software update, please check if there is an update available for apps too. If you observe any uneven behaviour on the device then you can try wipe cache partition. It clears temporary files from your phone's operating system and cleans up any residual files from apps you have uninstalled, to help your phone run smoothly. If you still have some issues then we can try factory reset.
Thank you for the information RedDogRabbit.

To wipe the Cache (Or Factory Reset if you want).

Power OFF the device.  Wait a few seconds.

Press & HOLD the Power & Volume UP buttons until you feel the device vibrate.

Release BOTH buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY & your phone will Boot to the Recovery Menu.

Use the Volume button to scroll down to "Wipe Cache" & Select with the Power button.

Wait a few seconds & the Recovery Menu will Default back to "Restart System Now". Select with the Power button.

Your phone will Boot.

I do factory reset only when upgrade to newest Android version. Once a year. All security or features update will do a Wipe Cache Partition in recovery mode right after these updates. My phone works perfectly fine for many years. I think I only happened once I end up factory reset after OneUI 2 update?? Yeah...it happens 😅

But definitely not BEFORE software update. Usually is after software update.

Yeah it's kind of pointless to Factory Reset before a One UI version update.

The only time that I would, is if I'm coming from the US Beta, back to Flashing the Canadian Stable version.

NEW issue: My phone had a software update this morning YAY! 10+ days earlier than usual! 🙄 However, when I tried to restart with menu to wipe the cache partition it did something that NEW & set me in a whirlwind of PANIC! It showed a blue green screen with an download of different OS? I could not 'cancel' and could not power on/off!!! FINALLY after several attempts it shut off & was able to restart! **bleep** happened!!?!? 😳😮😬 How do I check that it didn't download an OS our something that I didn't want/need??!? (I'm shaking & THIS is the last thing I need as I JUST finished paying off my phone after 2 years and it's out-of-contact...) 😥PLEASE advise, thank you!
