Hey Guys, so today is a sad day :(
Ever since I got my very first Galaxy S phone till now, I have always taken extra care of these phones. I am surprised I have had this much good luck till now.
Since my very first Galaxy S phone all the way to my Galaxy S8...I finally got a crack. This is the very FIRST time I have ever dropped my phone and cracked it. It is not a huge crack..but like most of you can probably relate...I enjoy having my phones always in mint 100% working condition.
I have never cracked any phone in the past and I am just wondering if anyone knows if Samsung's 1 year manufacture warranty covers any physical damage? (I really dont think so..)
If not, whatever..Samsung's warranty has never been that great and because of this I have always added Smart Phone Care warranty through my provider....I just have to pay $300 for a "refurbished" device.
However since I have never had to turn to Samsung Warranty, I am just wondering if anyone have any experiences to share when dealing with Samsung's warranty?

thank you so much all!537c13ea-6386-4add-a76a-d1b7ffc683f6.jpg

You are right with your thoughts as Samsung does not cover the screen for cracks.
You did mention the you have Smart phone care warranty which is always good but you said they would give you "Refurbished" replacement...
That sounds different why wouldn't they just replace your screen and you pay your deductible???...
I for one would never accept a refurbished unit... plus also I think you could take it in to a repair center and it would not be that much different in price to replace the screen plus you get to keep your phone and still covered under original warranty

Hmm, that is true! I will call Bell and ask if there is any way they can just pay for the replacement screen. I believe the average price I found is around $300....so its the same as paying for a refreshed device.
Anyone else in Calgary know of a good place that can replace screens?
The only downside I have ever heard (just rumors) when replacing your screen is that it no longer becomes IP68 certified...thus my phone would no longer be waterproof :( is this true?

@Nick I know when I checked last time for any authorised Samsung repair shops in Calgary, there were none. I will give Samsung a call and see if they have any places they can refer me too...I wouldnt want to use anything but Samsung OEM parts so I know my phone will still be IP68 certified after repairs. Other option is to make a drive to Edmonton. Anything else you can recommend? unfortunately for such a big city like Calgary i am quite surprised that there are no authorised Samsung repair shops. No Samsung Galaxy Experience stores. I believe Jusub was saying they even have an authorised Samsung repair shop in Regina which is ALOT smaller than Calgary. Thank you in advance Nick. Much Appreciated.

@SnowCat19, I also think it's a bit odd our service locator indicates there's 0 authorized repair centers in your area. Your best bet would be to give our service agents a call, as they would have a deeper knowledge of service locations. You could also look into other repair shops such as Cell Phone Repair, etc, although I would look at reviews or try to find some more information on the shops if possible.

@SnowCat19 - Like you I've always taken care of my phone's and kept them in mint condition, but sadly I dropped my phone about a month ago and cracked the screen, I had the screen replaced at a Samsung Service center here in Mississauga Ontario, I was told that add long as the screen is cracked it voids the warranty. Screen replacement cost me $334+TX, phone is back on warranty and waterproof again.

oh that's crazy cprice. So what it an actual Samsung repair store or a Samsung authorised repair center? my biggest worry is about the ip68 certification. Next time I'm in Toronto I'll get it repaired.

Ouch... Yes those curved glass is very expensive to be replaced. Also not easy to do since you literally have to take everything to do it as well as all those seals for water resistant feature.
I wish Samsung is offering the 50% off for a screen replacement like they do for South Korea (1st time only).

Hey @Nick, thank you so much for the suggestion. I spoke with someone from Samsung support today via chat and he was able to confirm that Cell Phone Repair in Calgary is in fact a authorized Samsung repair center, the reason why it is not showing up in the service locator is because as you said it is slightly out of date. I advised if CPR can be added so other users in Calgary are able to find this information. This is where I found out CPR is an authorized Samsung repair center.

Thanks again for all your support Nick as always :)
