Two months ago an updated popped up on my Samsung s8 after I updated it, I could no longer use my s8 again , it indicate invalid sim . What is the use of a phone when all you could do is connected wifi to it and browse when it cant be used for calls. Help with a solu5 please.  I did a factory reset and it never helped. They told me to wait for another updated , I did . Yesterday I got an updated , updated my phone and it's still the same

Try contact your carrier to get a new SIM card. Could be SIM card problem.

If you have factory reset and still say invalid SIM, please contact your carrier to replace your SIM card or check with your carrier what was happened.

If you think is the phone problem, take the phone to your closest service center to check it up. As I said, after factory reset still says invalid SIM, this is physical problem.

Hi blakktarget,
As Tallman said, your device needs to be examined by the authorized technician as you have performed the factory reset and it did not fix the issue.
Please reach out to live chat support and they will help you to book an appointment for you.

Have you tried this first 🤷

@Cassidy
https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/Others/Wipe-cache-partition-for-all-devices-EN-FR/td-p/3156063

If that doesn't work
I have some questions @blakktarget 🤷

Are you paying for service right now on the sim card you have installed?

If not, that's why it doesn't work 🤦

If you are paying for a phone plan on that SIM card, 1st try turning off your phone and reseating the SIM card and power up. if it doesn't work after that, then...
Use smartswitch to backup your device then do a factory reset!
If its still not working then as mentioned by @Tallman I would then try a new SIM card from your phone service provider!
If
That doesn't work by @Tallman @Halston you may have a hardware problem and need to take it to a hardware service provider.

Hi blakktarget,
Just to confirm, have you performed the factory data reset after back up your phone data using a smart switch on a computer as mentioned by mytech? If yes, please contact the live chat support so that they will help you accordingly.

Thanks to mytech for your information.
