Hi, will my old numbers is visible or anything including whatsapp? I have backup and restore everything from old phone as the number is changed is the old number is visible to others still or still going to be the same just curious
Hi Kamalpreet, if you switch from old number to new number, of course new number will visible. However, you need to let your friends know you have changed to new number. Otherwise, they still have your old number in their contacts. You can call them or send a new whatsapp message to them to notify them you have a new number, so that they can add your new phone number into contact list and whatsapp. Is this what you want to know? 🤔
Well...can't say old number is deleted. The concept should be old number is switched. You need to tell your friends what is your new number. Ask them to update your new number under their phone contacts. Then everything in whatsapp will continue.
Ok, I think I am kind of getting what you mean. So 2 senario here
- You get a new phone with new number
- You are using old phone, but change SIM card for new number
If it is first scenario, you need to do this in your old phone first.
Open Whatsapp → 3 dots on top right →Settings →Chats→ Chat backup
Backup to Google Drive
Once backup finished, you can install and register whatsapp to new number. Whatsapp will ask you if you want to restore backup from cloud, click yes,and all data will restore back to your new phone whatsapp.
If it is scenario 2, you may need to open Whatsapp after insert new SIM. Whatsapp should ask you to verify your new phone number. After verify new number and all data should be there without restore from cloud. But you need to ask your friend to change your new number under their phone contact list.
The old number may be "recycled" for another user. So if one of your contacts used the old number, they may get someone else on the line. Why you should/must inform people of a change in number.
