I thought it was just my phone until I saw similar issue in my family member's phone.
Ever since the Android 13 update, the sounds in the system has been glitchy.
First, it started off with only having sounds for 1 sec after 5-ish sec slience when typing.
Then, when I went to play music with the built-in speakers, the sound did not come out the way it should.
It only plays a sound for 1 sec, then silence for a couple of sec, then sound, and slience on repeat.
However, when I restart the phone, it works fine for another few hours or even a day.
Then, out of nowhere, the sound is glitchy again.
There's no issue in calling and receiving calls on speakerphone, as well as call notification sounds.
If anyone else has this issue, please let me know.
If anyone knows how to resolve the issue permanently, also let me know.
The device I'm using is S21+ Canadian model (not from carrier).
Thanks.

Have you tried booting into recovery and wiping the cache after the update

You will not lose anything doing this

Shut off your device

Press on the power and volume up buttons at the same time until you see something on the screen and then release them

In the menu that comes up look for wipe cache partition and use volume down to scroll through the list until it is higlighted

Press the power button to accept it

Press volume down button to highlight yes

Press power button to accept

Your screen should now have Reboot system now highlighted so press power button to accept

Tried it just now. We'll see if it causes the issue again. Thanks for the detailed suggestion.

It did not help... It was obviously fine after doing it cuz it requires my phone to be rebooted, but then after hours, it went back to being weird.

Thanks for attempting this, can you confirm if closing the Google home app works temporarily? I've been toggling Bluetooth off and back on to fix it for a while.

When this happens on my S22 ultra, my watch 5 Pro battery also seems to drop 20-30% in minutes.

Hi KingstonL, I am not sure if your issue same to my case. But I have such problem when I have Google Home app in background. Do you use Google Home? If yes, simply clear or close the app from Recent app (bottom left corner button) and the sound will back to normal.Screenshot_20221206_171831_One UI Home_1000021174_1670372311.jpg

I also have and use Google Home app. However, they are never running in the background. Maybe this issue occurs only after I use the app? Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, once you used Google Home, you need to close it from Recent app. Then your sound will back to normal. I think this is the bug on OneUI 5. Like my screenshot, click on close all button, sound will work normal again.
