Since updating to pie on my s8 I keep on getting popups on my phone. The back button removes them but does anyone know how to stop this pesky ads?

Hey @kjt55,

There are a few ways to identify which app(s) are causing popups on your phone:

  1.  You could try @LavandersChampions' suggestion of doing a hard/factory reset. While drastic, this is your best chance of successfully getting rid of the popups.
  2.  Try hitting the "Recent Apps" button as soon as you see a popup—this might help you identify the offending app, and then you can uninstall it.
  3.  In your installed applications list, look for apps that have the "Screen overlay" or "Draw over other apps" permission enabled. You can see if uninstalling them solves the issue.

Hopefully this helps! If one of these suggestions works for you, please don't forget to click "Accept as Solution" to help out others who might have the same issue.

Cheers,

Sabrina

The pop ups are likely from some app you have downloaded and nothing to do with updating to pie

Someone had a very clever way to identify the malware that makes those ads. Take a screenshot of the ad. Then check the screenshot's name. The malware's name will be there.
