If your Contacts are Synced with your Google Account, as long as you didn't delete them from Google, you can get them back.
Same should be the case if you had them saved to your Samsung account.
If they were saved to your SIM, then they are likely gone forever, unless you have backed them up using Smart Switch or Google Cloud / One Drive & maybe Samsung Cloud.
As mentioned above see where your default contacts are saved too. On your Samsung account, on your Google account or on your SIM. Hopefully you are able to restore them I can imagine how much of a pain that would be
Hi, If they are backed up on Samsung Cloud, restoring your data is simple. From Settings, tap your name at the top of the screen. Tap Samsung Cloud, and then tap Restore data. Select your desired device backup, and then select the content you want to restore. Next, tap Restore, and then tap Install if prompted. The backup will begin downloading. It may take some time if you have a lot of files. Tap Done when it's finished.
