Why doesn't the edge lighting always work when I get texts and never on email alerts

good question I had to download edge lighting+app for mine to work as it should outta the box

have you tried going into the edge options regarding notifications?

you can select what apps use edge lighting notifications. it's either in notification sittings. or the edge lighting settings. there is a very long list you can scroll through with a toggle for each one. on/off

I did. the edge lighting interaction also does not come on when the lighting does work. I also have the settings to "always" for when the lighting should activate but if I have the screen on because I'm doing something with the phone, the edge lighting wont work then

Do you use Samsung Messages or Android Messages?

I beleive android. It works most of the time but not always. I reset phone by power off/on. Also notice thobthat depsite having settings on "always" for when it should activate it does not while screen is on nor does the edge light interaction ever work. I also tried to set up what notifications use the edge lighting but email and gmail still wont work

I used to use android messages until I found out edge lighting does not support android messages and since then I've switched back to Samsung messages
