Adding a Rogers email address to my Samsung email app. Already spent hours with Rogers and Samsung tech specialist, but still have Server issues. I even generated an App password from Rogers to use in the server settings when setting up manually but it doesn't work. It used to work for years then days ago it stopped. Server settings seem to to fine with the right Port numbers, why?

I'm not going to be much help as I don't use a carrier email address, but just an FYI, if you ever switch carriers, you will lose all access to your Rogers emails.

Hi thebrez,

In your Samsung Email settings, do you know you are using POP? SMTP? Or IMAP?

The Yahoo app is terrible, especially with Ads.

Hi thebrez, It is important to set the right internet standard protocol used by the rogers to retrieve emails successfully from the remote servers. Please let us know the details as mentioned by Tallman.

Hi thebrez,

After reading some articles about Rogers yahoo email, it is so challenging since they moved the email to yahoo base. According to their instructions, anything above Android 5, you need to host the email in Gmail app. I am thinking is it because of this so that you cannot setup in Samsung Email app?

From Rogers instruction Android 5x and above:

The following instructions will help you to set up your Rogers Yahoo! email account in the Gmail app on an Android 5.x or higher device.

  1. Open the Android Settings app.
  2. Tap Accounts.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Personal (IMAP).
  5. Enter your full Rogers email address and tap Next.
  6. Enter your email account password and tap Sign in.
  7. Tap Agree.
  8. Select the desired options and tap Next.
  9. Type your name, the way you want others to see it when they receive emails from you, then tap Next.
  10. Send a test email to make sure the settings are correct and the email is working.

But if you can try remove the existing Rogers account from Samsung Email app (It is not working anyway). Maybe you can try adding the account manually using below information. One thing I am not sure if you need to do it or not, which is login to your Rogers account to generate an app password for Samsung Email app.

Try adding a POP account using below information:

POP Settings:

Incoming Server: pop.broadband.rogers.com

Incoming Port: 995

SSL: Yes

POP AuthenticationEmail address: Enter your full Rogers Yahoo! email address
Username: Enter your full Rogers Yahoo! email address
Password: You’ll need to create an app password in the Rogers Member Centre. See steps below.

SMTP settings:

Outgoing Server: smtp.broadband.rogers.com or smtp.nl.rogers.com

Outgoing Port: 465

SSL: Yes

SMTP AuthenticationEmail address: Enter your full Rogers Yahoo! email address
Username: Enter your full Rogers Yahoo! email address
Password: You’ll need to create an app password in the Rogers Member Centre. See steps below.
