Galaxy SI agree that the fingerprint scanner is useless for me. I have a tempered glass screen protector and it is impossible to get it to read my fingerprint to unlock. Which one is more important: screen protection or unlocking convenience? I chose the former. I instead rely on the face recognition instead. Yes, I guess I can blame it on the screen protector, although it does have a cut out over the fingerprint scanner but obviously it still impedes on the capability to scan the fingerprint, even when I'm pressing my entire body on that one small circle of area. I'm serious. It keeps saying, press harder and I'm like the whole screen will crack if I press any harder.

Galaxy SCheck Settings > Display > Touch Sensitivity & if it's there on the S22 Toggle it on, if it's not already.
I'm surprised if the Ultrasonic Finger Print Scanner is worse than before. I don't have any issues with it on my S20 Ultra & I have the Whitestone Dome tempered glass on my device.
Everything that I've read said that Samsung improved the performance of the the FP scanner..

Galaxy SSurprisingly, I have my fingerprints registered and it will detect and verify those fingerprints when I do it, but on the lock screen, it just fails and I end up either typing in my PIN since I failed to verify them after 5 attempts. So, it's like for me, forget it. I'm quite sure it's the thickness of the screen protector. I'm not going to get another one since I originally bought the ZAGG InvisibleShield Fusion Curve with D30 one which was little more than a very expensive plastic (glass hybrid they say) and thankfully was able to get a refund. I think the fingerprint scanner worked with that, if only briefly since I got peeved off that it wasn't tempered glass. I'm quite angry that there is no tempered glass from ZAGG anymore when I relied on them for my Note 8, Note 4. So when a retailer I visited had a tempered glass screen protector, I just went ahead and got it. Don't even know the brand but it seems to work okay.

Galaxy SYou may have seen me comment about Whitestone Dome tempered glass before, but there's zero difference with it installed or before I installed it. Highly recommend it!

Galaxy SYeah, I read about it but since I already have a tempered glass screen protector, until I crack it or whatever, I think I'll keep it. However, since you did mention Whitestone Dome, I checked them for the lens protector. I've ordered it and hopefully, I will get it soon.
But, it seems there's a lot of prep and stuff involved in applying the screen protector from all the Youtube videos. The blue UV light was surprising. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. I thought it was a simple remove the adhesive backing and apply.

Galaxy SIt's the Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive (LO*CA) that Whitestone uses, that makes it work very well with the Ultrasonic Finger Print Scanner.
Whitestone now has a simpler installation tray, that is supposed to be fool proof, but the installation kit that I used on my last few devices wasn't that difficult.
Main thing is that it's actual tempered glass & the FP scanner works perfectly.

Galaxy SWhen you have problems with your fingerprint not working it is your fingers that are usually the problem and Tallman's claim to put cream on your fingers doesn't work either.😂
I have had problems with every device I have had. It works better with no screen saver but I like to protect my screen. My tablet has no protector on it and it is really hit and miss when it works.
Wetting you finger usually makes it work but not too convenient to do
