I have always just trusted Samsung software updates and would update as soon as they would get pushed. Well, for Android 11, UI 3.0, I'm not happy about losing the two separate Dual SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for calls and messages. Lesson learned, so next time I will thoroughly review software update features details on what features are new, corrected and removed before actually updating.

So with a factory reset, I was able to roll back my Note10+ to Android 10, UI 2.5 and security patch dated Dec 2020 as I'm waiting for Samsung to fix some issues in Android 11, UI 3.0.

For now, I have PAUSED downloading the update....(see attached screenshot)....So the question is when Samsung eventually releases a future updates ie. UI 3.x or say Android 12, will my device receive those software update notifications? Or will it not until I complete download/install UI 3.0 first?

I can ofcourse avoid the install, but is it recommended to atleast resume and complete the download? Aporeciate any guidance and best practices while waiting on Samsung.

Hello, you'll have to install all the updates in order first if you want to do it simply. Otherwise, it is perfectly possible to jump straight to said upgrade by flashing it directly.
You shouldn't complete the download, as it will force you to install the update after dismissing the prompt 3 times.
Finally, RedDogRabbit is correct: a factory reset will not change your firmware version, nor did it do it in your case.

If you ONLY factory reset, you phone would have remained on the same Android version you started with. ie: If your phone was on One UI V3.0 & you factory reset, it would still be on One UI V3.0.

If your phone was on One UI v2.5 it would remain on One UI v2.5.

Factory resets will NEVER change the android version.

Factory reset can NOT revert the android version.. EVER! 🙂

@CHMultimedia  is the best guy to answer all of those questions...

One UI 3.1 is already rolling out in France for Note10plus...(for CHM info) and if you don't want to install 3.0 again,CHMultimedia can do the same thing he did for you so you will directly go from 2.5 to 3.1 (i think)

We will wait for CHM to confirm..or you can let him a message directly there ..l

If you download the update, the phone will automatically install the update after you reboot the phone.

And no, you won't be notified of a future patch. On Android you have to install each patch one at a time sadly.

Just wanted to clarify, for anyone else who might be thinking of rolling back to a previous version of android.

The factory reset isn't how you went back to One UI V2.5.

You were able to revert to V2.5 by manually flashing the firmware with Odin & with @CHMultimedia's guidance & files.

It's important that people don't think that a factory reset alone, with change the android version, it will never, ever do that.

@RedDogRabbi - good point....after my Note10+ downloaded the odin files and begin device reset process, i did get some error which forced me to do a factory reset factory

side question - if i did not manually revert to v2.5 via Odin, what Android version and UI version does the factory reset go to on Note10+ ?

The android version is never, ever changed by a factory reset. All that a factory reset does, is remove all user installed apps, settings, downloads saved to the internal storage, remove user accounts. In other words, the phone will be as it was when first purchased, other than any Firmware updates that have been downloaded & installed. Again, a factory reset will NOT change the android version.

You did revert to OneUI 2.5 via Odin. That's why I've said "a factory reset will not change your firmware version, nor did it do it in your case."

@CHmultimedia - that does not answer my question.

question is:
IF i did not revert back via ODIN....AND IF I just did a factory reset, THEN what Android version and what UI version would my Note 10+ revert back to ?
