I wish there was a setting to choose when you have always on display on, I know it sounds worried but let's say for example you can set your always on display to turn on around the time you go to sleep so you use it as a clock on your night stand, I know you can turn it on and off each night, but it's kinda inconvenient.
@Mattie, I found an app a while ago called AOD on charge, it only turns on AOD when my phone is charging, so when I go to bed at night and put it I my wireless charger, AOD turns on, and then turns off in the morning when I remove it off the charger.
Scheduling of Always On Display was available even before the update (at least on the Note 8). If to go to your lock screen settings and check Always On Display, there's an option for "Show Always". If you de-select that option, you can set a schedule.
