It used to be 800-900mb reserved memory and so often my browser will refresh. 300 free space is pretty big.

But I haven't activated secure folder and don't plan to do for sometime. Can anyone tell me who has secure folder enabled and if reserved space goes up?

Before and after and enabled Secure Folder.

Reserved memory is most likely used as VRAM and/or higher ring kernel processescdaa9088-e9bc-4165-842d-25e0b3b14429.jpg

It can go to 8GB of RAM if you splurge for the 512GB model

I have secure folder enabled on my S8 and have not noticed the memory increase when I save keepsake photos there.

reserved space increases because it (secure folder) uses an encrypted container. like a virtual drive.
