I'm not sure what the problem is but I've noticed after the April update YouTube has been very greedy with the phones battery.

Things I've tried

1. Uninstalling and reinstalling app
2. Clear cache partition

I have the S24 Ultra

The issue was fixed after rolling back to revision 18.12.34.

The only thing is the app will auto update itself even if you have auto update off

I've had the same problem with Youtube Premium in the background way, since early April 2024.

Someone has meant the installation of YouTube version 18.12.34 from March 24, 2023, will be able to resolve this problem.

But, YouTube does the auto update to the new version... Sorry, I didn't understand how the problem was resolved.

Everything is back to normal.

The version that works the best is 19.14.381712810316197.jpg1712810316218.jpg1712810388743_1712810388732_0.jpg

Have the same issue on A52. YouTube in background mode with the screen switched off, playing my downloaded video (in airplane mode) is draining battery like crazy.

If you install that version, is it being updated automatically by youtube to the newest one anyway?

How can I install that apk file?

How does it update? You can turn auto updates off in Play settings.
